UNICEF: Donation of pediatric surgical masks for Messina Taormina children's hospitals
Dr. Antonino Cacace, on behalf of Big Start Global, donated 10,000 pediatric masks to the Provincial President of Messina for UNICEF, Angela Rizzo Faranda, who expresses her deepest gratitude to the foundation which, with sensitivity, has chosen the 'UNICEF, as the beneficiary of this gesture of generosity towards the children of the area.
4,000 masks were sent to the Mediterranean Pediatric Cardiology Center in Taormina. Angela Rizzo Faranda together with Carmelita Maricchiolo, UNICEF contact person for Taormina and the volunteers Filippa Rapisardi and Tony Martines, delivered the masks and play material, intended for the young guests of the health facility, to Dr. Sasha Agati, CCPM Director, Chief Pediatric Heart Surgery San Vincenzo Hospital and to Dr. Maria Paola Ronchetti Head of Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care UOC.
Dr. Agati declared ”I would like to thank myself and all the staff for the wonderful initiative. It is a real privilege to receive the attention of UNICEF, especially in such a difficult moment. Our children and their families will also be grateful to you”.
“It is a pleasure for all of us to be able to be useful to the children as your guests. Our thanks go to you, who every day commit yourselves, with diligence, competence, professionalism and a spirit of self-sacrifice, to saving young lives, making this hospital great", said Rizzo Faranda and Maricchiolo added "We have collaborated often with this hospital and we will continue to do so, with all our heart, without failing to support the little patients".
At the moment of greetings, the Head Chiefs Agati and Ronchetti participated in their willingness to volunteer for UNICEF, for projects and conferences also in schools.
500 masks were delivered to the children guests of the "La Glicine" family home in Messina, 500 to Father Pati for the children of the family home, which he directs, 500 were delivered to the President of the Alì Terme Section Past Pupils Association handed over to Sister Mariella Lo Turco, Director of the Mary Help of Christians Institute of Alì T. who will use them for the children who attend the summer Grest.
500 masks were delivered to the "Buon Pastore" medical center, directed by Dr. Francesco Certo, which works in support of vulnerable children in the city, and offers assistance thanks to the "Onlus Terra di Gesù" volunteer doctors.
4,000 masks were destined for children hospitalized in all the pediatric wards of the NI Pavilion of the Messina Polyclinic. The Provincial President handed them over, during a sober ceremony, to the DAI Director of the Maternal and Child Department of the “G. Martino”, Professor Carmelo Romeo, who, like Tindaro Triolo and Alfredo Mancuso, former Professors of the Obstetrics department of the University Hospital, has undertaken a collaboration with the Provincial Committee of Messina for UNICEF, thanks to the sensitivity and involvement of Dr. Piera Liotta, who every year, for Christmas, organizes, within the department, a station for the adoption of pigotte, among the medical and paramedical staff.
